Plasencia Reserva Original

Wrapper, binder, and filler from Nicaragua.

The Plasencia Reserva Original brings you the same rich taste that enchanted Europeans over five centuries ago when they first encountered the New World. This cigar offers a delightful blend of flavors, including notes of nuts, fruits, and caramel, with subtle hints of marzipan and a smooth finish of cedar.

What sets the Plasencia Reserva Original apart is that it’s the world’s first and only organic cigar, made entirely from tobacco certified by the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA). The company proudly states, “We use just Mother Nature’s ingredients,” with tobacco sourced from the Estelí and Jalapa regions of Nicaragua. After curing and fermentation, the leaves are aged for five years to develop their full flavor.

As you begin smoking, you’re greeted by a rich array of baking spices—everything from cinnamon to nutmeg, with cinnamon and nutmeg shining the brightest. There’s a distinct barnyard aroma, complemented by creamy chocolate and the comforting scent of buttered rye toast, a childhood favorite. Red and black peppers add a spicy kick, while almonds and Rainier cherries provide subtle, layered aromas that gently unfold. These flavors are nuanced and complex, with each one delicately intertwined with the others.

The cold draw reveals dark chocolate, intense and rich at 80% cacao, followed by hot cinnamon, pepper, a creamy texture, and the distinct taste of caraway seeds from rye bread. There’s also a pleasant maltiness, caramel sweetness, and the return of those cherries, along with a touch of corn flakes.

As you smoke, the flavors deepen and evolve with each puff, creating a complex and harmonious experience. This cigar is designed to be savored as a whole, with its flavors blending together rather than standing out individually.

The Plasencia Reserva Original is a great choice for a morning smoke with coffee, or as an after-dinner treat paired with a good whiskey. It would also pair beautifully with a rich, dark wine.
